Odisha Hosts Refresher Training on Urban Governance for ULB Professionals

Bhubaneswar: The State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) organized a Refresher Training Programme on “Urban Governance” for Community Organisers, MIS professionals/consultants, and accountants from all 115 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Odisha. The initiative, under the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department, aims to strengthen urban governance and build capacity at the grassroots level.

Addressing the participants, Principal Secretary of H&UD, Ushapadhee, highlighted the significance of collective efforts in realizing the vision of Viksit Odisha @ 2036 and Viksit Bharat @ 2047. She emphasized that the state’s urban progress hinges on effective governance reforms, innovative service delivery, and citizen-centric approaches.

“The success of urban Odisha lies in our ability to implement reforms efficiently, foster inclusivity, and ensure transparency in governance. Community organizers and technical professionals play a crucial role in this journey,” said Ushapadhee. She urged participants to actively contribute to enhancing urban infrastructure and driving sustainable growth across Odisha’s cities and towns.

The training sessions covered a range of topics, including best practices in urban governance, management information systems (MIS) usage, financial management, and strategies for fostering community participation. These sessions aimed to equip urban professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to address evolving challenges in urban development.

This initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to empower ULBs, promote self-reliance, and improve the quality of life for urban residents. By focusing on innovation, efficiency, and accountability, the H&UD Department is committed to making urban governance a cornerstone of Odisha’s development trajectory.
