Odisha Holds Workshop to Promote Agri-Entrepreneurship Among Ex-Servicemen

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government held a workshop to explore opportunities for ex-servicemen to establish agricultural and allied enterprises under the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY), with a focus on helping veterans turn their skills and experience into sustainable agri-businesses.

The workshop on “Agri-preneurial Prospects for Ex-Servicemen under Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY)” was organised at the Auditorium Hall of Krushi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. It aimed to familiarise ex-servicemen with government support available for setting up enterprises in agriculture and allied sectors.

Inaugurating the programme, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, highlighted the potential of ex-servicemen to contribute to the state’s agricultural economy.

Jadhav said the discipline, leadership and resilience developed during military service could be valuable assets for running successful agribusiness ventures. He said the government was committed to supporting veterans through financial assistance, technical guidance and streamlined processes under MKUY.

He emphasised the need to connect the experience and expertise of ex-servicemen with emerging opportunities in modern agriculture and allied activities, enabling them to become successful agri-entrepreneurs while contributing to rural economic development.

The technical sessions provided participants with insights into investment opportunities across various agricultural and allied sectors. The sessions also focused on the scope of entrepreneurship, available government support and the process of setting up viable agri-enterprises under MKUY.
