Bhubaneswar: The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department of the Odisha Government has launched a pioneering initiative to train 150 hearing-impaired youth in Hospitality Operations. This program, in collaboration with the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bhubaneswar, aims to enhance the employability of differently-abled individuals in the hospitality sector, and the results have already been promising.
The first batch of trainees is set to complete their training by October 2024, and many participants have already received job offers from leading hospitality brands. This initiative highlights the state’s commitment to inclusive development and providing meaningful career opportunities for differently-abled individuals.
In a notable achievement, 13 of these trainees have been selected to participate in the prestigious National Abilympic Event, which will take place in Jamshedpur. This event provides a platform for them to showcase their skills and compete on a national level. Among them, Shri Nityanand Singh has already won a medal and qualified for the National Abilympics event in Delhi, underscoring the program’s success.
