Bhubaneswar: Students of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Karanjia delivered an impressive performance at the CBSE Cluster Championships 2026–27, winning seven medals in athletics and securing qualification for the national-level competition.

Competing against nearly 1,252 participants from more than 300 schools across Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, the EMRS Karanjia contingent demonstrated strong performances across track and field events, winning two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

The standout performer for the school was Jagyasmita Nayak, who competed in the Under-14 category and won gold medals in both the 400m and 600m events.

Her double-gold performance highlighted the school’s growing strength in athletics and earned her a place at the CBSE National Athletics Meet.

In the Under-19 category, Pabitra Pingua secured a silver medal in the 400m and a bronze in the 200m. Both Jagyasmita and Pabitra have qualified to represent EMRS Karanjia at the CBSE National Athletics Meet in Patiala.

The school added to its medal tally through strong performances in other track events.

Jagannath Jerai won bronze in the 1500m, while Swagati Munda secured bronze in the 800m event.

The Under-17 girls’ 4×400m relay team also put up a competitive performance to finish with a silver medal.

EMRS Karanjia’s achievements were not limited to athletics. The school’s handball team advanced to the quarterfinals, while its students secured the fifth position overall in yoga.

The results reflect the school’s emphasis on combining academic education with sports and extracurricular activities, while providing students with opportunities to compete at the regional and national levels.

With Jagyasmita Nayak and Pabitra Pingua now set to compete at the national athletics meet in Patiala, the school is looking to build on its strong showing at the CBSE Cluster Championships.
