Odisha Govt Sets February 15 Deadline for e-KYC of Ration Card Holders

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department has announced that February 15, 2025, will be the final deadline for electronic KYC (e-KYC) verification for ration card holders, with no further extensions.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Minister Krushna Chandra Patra urged the 37 lakh beneficiaries who are yet to complete the e-KYC process to do so before the deadline. He warned that ration cards of those failing to complete the process will be cancelled after February 15.

During the verification process, authorities discovered that around 8 lakh ineligible beneficiaries had fraudulently obtained ration cards, despite belonging to taxable income groups. Meanwhile, approximately 6 lakh new applications have been received for ration cards, while 12,000 individuals who are employed or fall under taxable income categories have voluntarily surrendered their ration cards.
