Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government is taking steps to increase various pensions for eligible beneficiaries in the state, announced Nityananda Gond, Minister of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, on Tuesday.
Minister Gond stated that the process to raise pensions for the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities is already underway. The proposed increase will see the pension amount rise to ₹3,000 per month.
“We have initiated the process to enhance the pension amounts for these vulnerable groups. Our government is committed to ensuring their financial stability and well-being,” Gond said.
He further mentioned that discussions with the finance department are ongoing to secure the necessary clearances for this initiative. “We are in continuous talks with the finance department to expedite the clearances required for implementing this increase,” he added.
Regarding the concerns over the lack of increase in scholarships, Minister Gond assured that the state government is aware of the issue and will review the matter to make appropriate decisions. “We understand the importance of scholarships in supporting students and will ensure that a thorough review is conducted to address this concern,” he said.
