Odisha Govt Partners with The Convergence Foundation to Boost Job Creation and Economic Growth

Bhubaneswar: In a strategic move to enhance job creation and drive economic development, the Odisha Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Convergence Foundation (TCF). The collaboration aims to provide policy support, implement effective employment strategies, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities across key sectors in the state.

The agreement focuses on expanding job prospects in manufacturing and services, increasing agricultural productivity, and fostering sustainable employment opportunities for women. It also seeks to strengthen Odisha’s economic ecosystem, positioning the state as a hub for skilled talent while generating employment both within and beyond its borders.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja emphasized the state government’s commitment to economic growth and employment generation. “To achieve our ambitious goals, we need data-driven insights and strategic planning. TCF’s expertise will provide valuable guidance in shaping a roadmap for Odisha’s development,” he said.

Development Commissioner Anu Garg highlighted the state’s long-term vision, aligning with the broader goals of a Viksit Odisha by 2036 and a Viksit India by 2047. “This MoU will support key development areas, including economic growth, governance, rural planning, and port development, while ensuring access to essential services for all citizens,” she stated.

Ashish Dhawan, CEO of The Convergence Foundation, noted that TCF collaborates with 13 state governments and several central ministries. “Our focus areas include education, governance, women’s empowerment, and economic competitiveness. Through our partners, we are actively supporting Odisha in sectors such as textile and apparel manufacturing, tourism, and industrial growth,” he explained.

He further elaborated that TCF’s partners are engaged in various reform initiatives within the state. ‘Proxrity’ is working on labor law reforms, ‘SSA’ is contributing to sports development, and ‘Udaiti’ is collaborating with the Women and Child Development Department to promote women’s economic empowerment.

The MoU signing was attended by several senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department, Hemant Sharma, as well as Principal Secretaries from Electronics & IT, Women & Child Development, Sports & Youth Services, Commerce & Transport, Urban Planning & Housing, and Tourism. Officials from the Planning & Convergence Department and TCF were also present.
