Bhubaneswar: To support the state’s agriculture sector and mitigate the impact of frequent natural disasters, a presentation was made by representatives from Map My Crop to Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo today at the Lok Seva Bhavan. The presentation, which focused on leveraging digital technology to support farmers, also saw the participation of Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Agriculture Premachandra Chaudhary, and Director of Horticulture Nikhil Pawan Kalyan.
Odisha, a disaster-prone state, faces significant challenges each year due to cyclones, unseasonal rains, floods, and sea storms. These disasters severely affect farmers, causing crop losses, which are further exacerbated by pests, diseases, and other environmental factors. The presentation highlighted how Map My Crop, a technology-driven company, aims to assist farmers by offering valuable services such as advanced disaster warnings, crop health monitoring through satellite imagery, and post-disaster damage assessments.
Singhdeo acknowledged the critical role of digital technologies in transforming the agriculture sector, especially in a state like Odisha, which faces constant environmental challenges. He emphasized that the state government is committed to enhancing farmers’ income through the integration of digital tools and technologies in farming practices.
The company presented its advanced digital mapping solutions that provide detailed information about farmlands, including the type of crops being cultivated, the health of the crops, and real-time updates. These innovations will allow farmers and the government to take proactive measures, manage risks better, and respond quickly to crop damage during disaster events.
Singhdeo reiterated the Odisha government’s dedication to improving farmers’ livelihoods, noting the ongoing efforts to incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as Agri Stack App for mapping farmlands and crops across the state.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from Map My Crop, including Business Director Sanjay Bobde, Sales Head Adarsh Nair, and other senior team members, including Dilip Dash, Giridhar Gwalani, Anand Tamrakar, and A Sheikh.
This collaboration between the Odisha government and Map My Crop reflects the state’s ongoing commitment to modernizing the agriculture sector and empowering farmers through technology.
