Odisha Govt Appoints Shovana Mohanty as New Women’s Commission Chairperson

Bhubaneswar: In a significant administrative development, the Odisha Government has appointed Shovana Mohanty, a native of Karanjia, Remuna in Balasore district, as the Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women.

The official notification, issued by the Department of Women & Child Development, confirms that the appointment has been made in accordance with Section 3(1) and Section 3(2)(b) of the Odisha State Commission for Women Act, 1993.

Mohanty will assume office with immediate effect and will hold the post for a maximum term of three years from the date of notification. As Chairperson, she will be entrusted with the responsibilities and authority outlined in the provisions of the Act.

The notification also specifies that the salary, allowances, and other service conditions related to the post will be decided by the State Government as per prevailing rules.

Additionally, the department has directed that the notification be published in the upcoming edition of the Odisha Gazette, in keeping with procedural formalities.

The Odisha State Commission for Women is a statutory body committed to addressing issues concerning women’s rights, protection, and welfare. Mohanty’s appointment is expected to bring renewed focus to the Commission’s initiatives across the state.
