Odisha Government Moves to Simplify Land Sale Process

Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at simplifying land transactions and addressing legal bottlenecks, the Odisha government has taken a decisive step to ease the land sale process in the state. The decision came following a review meeting chaired by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, with Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushan Chandra Mahapatra in attendance.

The meeting, which also saw the participation of senior officials from the Revenue Department, Urban Development Department, and other key stakeholders, was convened to resolve the challenges that have long plagued property owners looking to sell their land.

At the heart of the discussions was the need to amend existing legal frameworks to address the difficulties faced by citizens in selling land. In particular, the government decided to focus on revising the RERA Act, Development Act, and Regional Authority Act. These amendments will be carried out in Odia, ensuring clarity and accessibility for local residents.

Minister Pujari directed officials from both the Revenue and Urban Development Departments to prepare and submit a detailed report within seven days, outlining the legal hurdles and proposing specific actions to streamline the process. The government is committed to resolving these issues in a timely manner, and the report will form the foundation for further reforms.

In addition to legal reforms, the government has instructed the departments to identify the key bottlenecks in the land sale process and take immediate steps to eliminate them. The aim is to reduce the complexity and delays often faced by landowners, making property transactions smoother and more transparent.

The initiative is expected to bring much-needed relief to residents, enhancing the ease of doing business and fostering investment in the state’s real estate sector.

With these reforms, the Odisha government is laying the groundwork for a more efficient land sale process that will benefit both sellers and buyers across the state.
