
Bhubaneswar: A high-profile delegation of healthcare experts, including representatives from the Mayo Clinic and other research institutions, met with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan to discuss advancements in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The discussions focused on cutting-edge approaches to improve treatment accuracy and reduce costs, particularly through rapid DNA testing to assess treatment effectiveness early in the process.
The delegation presented an innovative strategy for implementing DNA testing as part of Odisha’s cancer treatment infrastructure. This approach could allow for faster diagnosis and more targeted, effective therapies, significantly benefiting patients facing the uncertainties and expenses associated with cancer treatment.
Chief Minister Majhi expressed the state government’s commitment to healthcare, with a special emphasis on cancer treatment. He assured the experts that healthcare remains a top priority and encouraged them to submit a formal proposal detailing the plans for introducing these advanced diagnostic and treatment methods in Odisha.
Key officials in attendance included Additional Chief Secretary Nikunj Bihari Dhal and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Aswathi S. Renowned healthcare experts such as Professor Dev Mukherjee of Mayo Clinic, Charles Miller of Elephes Bio-Sciences, Dr. Biren Banerjee, Founder and Managing Director of inDNA Life Sciences, and Devi Prasad Rath also contributed to the discussions, adding valuable insights from their respective fields.
