
Bhubaneswar: Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Odisha, Anu Garg, IAS, conducted a comprehensive review of the Department of Water Resources (DoWR) today, focusing on the progress of plan expenditure and key departmental initiatives. The review meeting was held at the DoWR office in Bhubaneswar and attended by senior officers of the department.
During the meeting, Garg underscored the importance of accelerating the tendering process for new projects under the department’s portfolio. She stressed that timely initiation and execution of works are essential for efficient utilisation of budgetary allocations and for delivering tangible outcomes on the ground.
A major highlight of the review was the ongoing development of the Irrigation Master Plan for Odisha. Garg examined the current status of its preparation and instructed officials to maintain momentum and ensure the plan aligns with the state’s long-term water management and agricultural needs.
She also took stock of the implementation progress of new schemes recently introduced by the department. Smt. Garg called for close monitoring and coordinated efforts to resolve any implementation hurdles and to ensure that the intended benefits reach farmers and rural communities.
