Odisha CM Launches ₹5,770 Crore Industrial Projects to Boost Jobs and Growth

Bhubaneswar: Odisha took a significant step towards industrial growth and employment generation as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a major production unit and laid the foundation stone for 13 new projects on Thursday. With a combined investment of ₹5,770 crore, these projects are expected to create over 37,030 jobs, reinforcing the state’s position as an emerging industrial hub.

Among the key developments, Majhi formally inaugurated Varun Beverages Limited’s new manufacturing unit at Malipada in Khurda district, set up with an investment of ₹624 crore. Additionally, he led the groundbreaking ceremonies for 13 industrial projects, all strategically located within Khurda, further strengthening the district’s industrial infrastructure.

The event was conducted across three prominent locations—New Industrial Estate Haldiapada, Industrial Estate Mundamba, and Khordha Textile Park Kalibeti—highlighting Odisha’s commitment to accelerating industrial projects and attracting investments. The swift execution of these initiatives comes within just 60 days of the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, demonstrating the state government’s efficiency in turning investment proposals into actionable projects.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and industrial development. “These projects are not just about infrastructure; they represent a transformative shift in Odisha’s economic landscape. By prioritizing ease of doing business, we are creating a robust industrial ecosystem that will drive sustainable growth,” he stated.

The newly launched and upcoming projects span various sectors, including food processing, textiles, apparel, technical textiles, mechanical and electrical capital goods, packaging, and refractories. Several renowned domestic and global companies, such as Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Pvt. Ltd., Polimiroir India Pvt. Ltd., Shalimar Glass Works Pvt. Ltd., and IFGL Refractories Ltd., have committed to investing in the state, further boosting Odisha’s industrial credentials.

Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain also highlighted the government’s focus on industrial infrastructure, skill development, and regional diversification. He emphasized that these projects will not only generate employment but also position Odisha as a key player in the nation’s manufacturing and industrial sector.

As part of the day’s events, the Chief Minister visited multiple project sites. At Haldiapada Industrial Park, he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for key industrial initiatives. At Khordha One Industrial Estate, he inaugurated Nestlé India’s Mega Food Factory project, a significant milestone in Odisha’s food processing sector. The day concluded at New Textile Park, Kalibeti, where Majhi inspected the under-construction Trimetro Garments India Pvt. Ltd. (EPIC Group) site and laid the foundation for workers’ hostel facilities, aimed at strengthening the apparel industry in the region.

The state government remains steadfast in its vision of ‘Samrudh Odisha’ (Developed Odisha), with an inclusive and sustainable industrial expansion strategy that not only fosters economic development but also ensures a skilled workforce and infrastructure development across various sectors. With these projects set to take off, Odisha continues its rapid march towards becoming a premier investment destination in India.
