
Baripada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated the Subarnarekha irrigation project and Deo irrigation project during his visit to the Mayurbhanj district.
Inaugurating the two projects, the Chief Minister said, “I am extremely happy to launch two irrigation projects in Mayurbhanj. The farmers of the district will be immensely benefitted by the two projects.”
Subarnarekha irrigation project and Deo irrigation project can irrigate around 27,000 hectares of agricultural land.
Built at an expenditure of Rs 685 crore, the Subarnarekha irrigation project can irrigate 17,121 hectares of farmland in the Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts. Over 55,000 farmers will benefit from the project.
While, the Deo irrigation project, built at an expenditure of Rs 823 crore, can irrigate 9,900 hectares of agricultural land. Around 2 lakh people in 100 villages in the Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts are expected to benefit from the project.
