Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to inaugurate the much-anticipated Odia University at Satyabadi tomorrow.
The Odia University, a visionary project of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, is strategically located near Bakula Vana Vidyalaya, the pioneering model open school established by the ‘Panchasakha’ in 1909. The foundation stone for the university was laid by the Chief Minister on October 9, 2018, and it spans across 25 acres of land.
The initial phase of development covers 8.6 acres and encompasses a school of learning with a capacity for 200 students. Additionally, separate hostel blocks for male and female students have been constructed, accommodating 32 students each. The proposed university will also feature a 16-seater scholars’ hostel, a library, cafeteria, an administrative block, and a well-developed water body.
Embracing the essence of Odia culture, the university’s campus incorporates Odia alphabets in its design and architecture, contributing to its unique and culturally rich environment. The Odia University is poised to become a hub of excellence for research and development in the Odia language.
The inauguration marks a significant milestone in Odisha’s commitment to fostering education and preserving the cultural heritage of the region. The Odia University is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting the language, literature, and traditions of Odisha.
