Bhubaneswar: In a move geared towards fortifying the Excise administration in Kalahandi district, the Odisha Cabinet granted approval on Monday for the establishment of a new Excise Station at Koksara.
The decision to create this new Excise Station is rooted in the objective of bolstering excise administration at the grassroots level. It also seeks to address the growing menace of Excise-related crimes, the influx of non-duty paid or duplicate liquor, and the illegal distillation and sale of ‘Illicitly distilled’ (ID) liquor. Furthermore, the initiative is aimed at fostering legitimate revenue generation for the Government Exchequer.
The establishment of the Excise Station in Koksara is expected to enhance the monitoring and control mechanisms in place to regulate the liquor trade, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimizing the illicit activities in the domain.
