Odisha Cabinet Clears Five Key Proposals, Including 2026–27 State Budget Framework

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved five major proposals, including the framework for the 2026–27 State Budget, during its 36th meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, Chief Secretary Anu Garg said the Finance Department’s proposal related to the preparation of the 2026–27 Budget was among the most significant decisions taken. She added that the detailed Budget provisions would be placed before the Odisha Legislative Assembly during its forthcoming session.

Besides the Budget-related proposal, the Cabinet cleared one proposal submitted by the Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department, focusing on measures aimed at strengthening labour welfare and social security. In addition, three proposals from the Water Resources Department received approval, reflecting the government’s continued emphasis on irrigation development, water conservation, and sustainable resource management.

All five proposals were approved unanimously at the meeting held in the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan, underscoring broad consensus on the policy priorities set by the government.

The decisions are expected to play a crucial role in shaping Odisha’s fiscal strategy for the next financial year, while also advancing reforms and initiatives in labour welfare and water resource management, key sectors central to the State’s development agenda.
