Bhubaneswar: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and possible third wave, the Odisha government on Tuesday has decided not to allow Bol Bom, Kaudias this year as well.
Bol Bom devotees carry water from various places in Shravan month as per Hindu calendar during July-August and walk on roads for miles to pour water in Shiva linga of various Shiva temples. However, this year they won’t be allowed to carry water and walk on roads.
The decision has been taken on assessment of the Covid situation and in the interest of the health of the general public.
All religious places in the state have been closed for the general public during the pandemic, while religious functions and other gatherings are prohibited till July 16.
