
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para athletes continued their strong showing on Day 2 of the 24th National Para Athletics Championships 2026 at Kalinga Stadium, delivering impressive performances across multiple events.
Leading the charge, Jayprakash Barik clinched the Gold Medal in the Men’s Long Jump T36 event with a jump of 4.83 metres, marking a standout achievement for the host state.
In track events, Jadunath Majhi secured a Silver Medal in the Men’s 400m T11, clocking 57.70 seconds with a determined performance. Adding to the tally, Jayanti Behera continued her fine form, winning a Silver Medal in the Women’s 400m T47 event with a timing of 1:04.35.
In the Men’s Long Jump T13 category, Managat Hembrom bagged a Silver Medal with a jump of 6.33 metres. Fellow athletes Pipun Kumar Sahoo and Pankaj Bhue also put up commendable performances, finishing fifth and eighth respectively.
With these results, Odisha secured four medals on Day 2, including one gold and three silver, further strengthening its position in the championship.
The strong performance builds on the state’s impressive start on Day 1, where Odisha had already bagged five medals, including two gold, one silver, and two bronze, reflecting the depth and growing strength of para sports in the state.
