Odisha Approves ₹1,191 Crore Renewable Energy Projects in 10th Single Window Committee Meeting

Bhubaneswar: Marking a significant stride in Odisha’s journey towards clean and sustainable energy, the State Government has granted in-principle approval to seven renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 149.97 MW. The projects, with a total proposed investment of ₹1,191.47 crore, were approved during the 10th Single Window Committee (SWC) meeting held under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022.

The meeting was chaired by Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Odisha, and marks yet another milestone in the State’s growing commitment to sustainable energy infrastructure.

The approved projects include:

  • 2 Wind Power Projects with a capacity of 95.7 MW
  • 4 Ground-Based Solar Projects totaling 53.97 MW
  • 1 Battery Storage Project, the first of its kind in the State, with a capacity of 0.6 MWh

These projects are expected to leverage Odisha’s natural potential for renewable energy generation, particularly in wind and solar sectors, and support the State’s renewable energy targets under the 2022 policy framework.

Speaking on the occasion, Vishal Dev underlined the pivotal role of renewable energy in ensuring sustainable economic development. He reiterated the State Government’s resolve to facilitate green investments and ensure timely execution of approved initiatives. “Odisha is creating a robust ecosystem for renewable energy through proactive policies and investor-friendly processes,” he said.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of renewable energy projects cleared during the 9th SWC meeting, reflecting the government’s focus on monitoring and implementation.

Officials from the Energy Department, Water Resources Department, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, GRIDCO, OPTCL, Electricity Distribution Companies, OHPC, and the EIC (Electricity) were present in the meeting.

The SWC, through its single-window mechanism, continues to streamline approvals and attract significant investments into Odisha’s renewable energy sector. So far, the committee has given in-principle approval for projects worth ₹12,387.36 crore, cumulatively accounting for 1,707.56 MW of clean energy capacity.
