Odisha Agriculture Dept Mandates Odia Language in Functions and Enhances Agricultural Oversight

Bhubaneswar: To promote the use of the Odia language and enhance agricultural oversight, a high-level meeting of senior officers was convened under the chairmanship of the Chief Administrative Secretary. The meeting focused on several key directives aimed at improving administrative efficiency and ensuring the welfare of farmers.

One of the major directives issued was the mandatory use of the Odia language in all government functions. This initiative aims to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Odisha, ensuring that the native language is used in official communications and events.

In addition to language use, the Chief Administrative Secretary instructed regular visits of nodal officers to their respective districts. These visits are intended to ensure that local issues are promptly addressed and that there is a consistent and effective implementation of government policies at the grassroots level.

The meeting also addressed concerns regarding the quality of agricultural inputs. There was a strong emphasis on the inspection of fake seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to protect farmers from substandard products. Ensuring the authenticity and quality of these inputs is crucial for the productivity and sustainability of agriculture in the state.

Furthermore, the Chief Administrative Secretary directed that all laboratories in the state obtain National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) approval. This move aims to standardize testing and ensure the reliability of results, thereby enhancing the quality of agricultural produce and inputs.

The management of registers for all documents received from the Chief Minister’s complaint manifesto was also discussed. This measure is designed to streamline the handling of complaints and ensure that they are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

Another important directive was the preparation of a special list to record all government farm lands under the Agriculture Department. This initiative will help in better management and utilization of these lands, contributing to the overall development of the agricultural sector in Odisha.
