Bhubaneswar: National award-winning Odia filmmaker Bijaya Jena has unveiled the trailer of her new short film ‘Winter Interlude’ shot in Tallinn. The trailer was launched at the Indian Pavilion of the Cannes Film Festival.
Made in the English language, the short film has a subtle anti-war message on how devastating events can rip families apart.
Sharing about the movie, Bijaya Jena said, “The last few years coupled with the global epidemic has had a deep impact on human lives. ‘Winter Interlude’ hopes to act as a ray of hope and light on how human beings still strive for connection.”
The movie is about the protagonist, a Bengali woman who lost her husband during the pandemic, and how she is forced to travel to his workplace in Estonia where she ends up bonding with her husband’s employer whose family is in Ukraine.
The cast and crew of the movie include popular Estonian actor Ott Aardam, Indian filmmaker and actress Bijaya Jena, and American composer Gene Pritsker of ‘Cloud Atlas’ and ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ fame.
The film has been screened at several international film festivals in Locarno, Venice, Toronto, Valladolid, and Busan.
