Odia film ‘Pratikshya’ Triumphs at 69th National Film Awards

Bhubaneswar: In a moment of pride and celebration, Anupam Patnaik’s thought-provoking film ‘Pratikshya’ was awarded the prestigious Best Odia Feature Film at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The award was presented to Patnaik in the form of a coveted Rajat Kamal, along with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 by President Droupadi Murmu.

The film, a poignant exploration of familial bonds and emotional resilience, features a stellar cast including Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Choudhury Jayprakash Das, Barsha Patnaik, and Sidhant Mohapatra, among others. Inspired by a short story penned by acclaimed writer Gourahari Das, ‘Pratikshya’ weaves a powerful narrative that delves deep into the complexities of family dynamics.

At its heart, ‘Pratikshya’ tells the story of Sanjay, a young man hailing from a modest middle-class family, driven by the pursuit of a government job. The plot unfolds a few months prior to the retirement of Sanjay’s father, Bipin, who is unexpectedly diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Amidst this challenging circumstance, Sanjay stumbles upon the Government’s compassionate appointment scheme, which offers employment to a family member in the event of a deceased government employee. Struggling with a whirlwind of emotions, Sanjay grapples with his inner turmoil, coming to terms with the profound impact of impending loss and the complexities of filial relationships.

‘Pratikshya’ is a poignant portrayal of the intricate tapestry of familial love, loss, and resilience. With a compelling narrative and nuanced performances, the film resonates with audiences, serving as a heartfelt reflection of the universal themes of love, hope, and the enduring bonds that shape our lives.
