Bhubaneswar: NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has achieved a major production milestone by successfully producing 1 million tons (MnT) of Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) at its state-of-the-art facility, reaching this landmark four days ahead of the first anniversary of its HRC production. This accomplishment underscores NSL’s status as one of the fastest and most efficient steel plants in the industry, showcasing its advanced technology and operational excellence.

The achievement builds on NSL’s impressive track record in 2024. The company had previously reached significant production milestones with 1.5 MnT of Hot Metal from its Blast Furnace on July 21 and 1 MnT of Liquid Steel from the Steel Making Shop (SMS) on August 11. The ultra-modern plant, with an investment of Rs. 22,900 crore, is one of India’s largest, featuring one of the widest Hot Strip Mills in the country. The facility is capable of rolling HRCs ranging from 900 mm to 1650 mm in width and 1 mm to 16 mm in thickness.

Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge), NMDC & NSL, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “Reaching the 1 MnT HRC production milestone ahead of schedule is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team. This success sets a new standard in the PSU sector and reaffirms our commitment to leading the industry with quality and efficiency.”
