
New Delhi: In a move towards sustainable transportation, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India, today launched the “Bharat Zero Emission Trucking (ZET) Policy Advisory” at Vigyan Bhawan Annexe, New Delhi. The event brought together key figures from various sectors, including Dr. Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Office of PSA; Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary (Auto), Ministry of Heavy Industries; and Sudhendu Sinha, Adviser (Infrastructure Connectivity & E-Mobility), NITI Aayog.
In his address, Prof. Sood stressed the vital role Zero Emission Trucks (ZET) will play in India’s decarbonization efforts and energy security. “The induction and wider adoption of ZETs require both technical expertise and systematic policy interventions to create an enabling ecosystem,” he stated.
The Bharat ZET Policy Advisory outlines 30 strategic interventions aimed at facilitating the transition to ZETs, categorized into incentives, regulations, infrastructure, business and financing, and stakeholder-centric initiatives. It aims to ensure 100% ZET sales by 2050, contributing to India’s Net Zero 2070 goal.
