Bhubaneswar: In an administrative reshuffle, the Odisha government has appointed Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, a 2012-batch IAS officer, as the Collector and District Magistrate of Jajpur district.
The appointment, made under section 20(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act II of 1974), was announced through a notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department of the Government of Odisha on Wednesday.
Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, who previously served as the Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), brings a wealth of administrative experience to his new role. His recent assignment as the Director of Rural Development in Odisha further underscores his expertise in grassroots governance.
The decision to appoint Kalyan as the Collector and District Magistrate of Jajpur comes amid ongoing administrative reforms and the need for effective leadership in the district. His appointment is expected to enhance the delivery of public services and drive development initiatives in the region.
It’s worth noting that the current Jajpur Collector, Subhankar Mohapatra, had voluntarily declared his familial connection to a candidate contesting from the Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency before the Election Commission of India (ECI). Consequently, the ECI decided to facilitate his replacement during the election period.
