Bhubaneswar: Sonali Sahoo, the spokesperson of the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has tendered her resignation from the primary membership of the party, citing concerns over its approach towards women.
In her resignation letter addressed to Manmohan Samal, the BJP State President, Sahoo expressed her disillusionment with the party’s stance on women’s issues. “During the last five years of working for the BJP, I felt that the party is not pro-women. It lacks respect towards women as well,” she wrote. Sahoo emphasized her decision to step down as a gesture to become the voice of the women of Odisha, vowing to continue serving the people of the state.
Sahoo’s departure from the BJP comes after she joined the saffron party in 2019, following her resignation from the Congress.
