Newly Appointed Election Commissioners Meet President Murmu

New Delhi: Newly appointed Election Commissioners of India, Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, paid a courtesy call on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The meeting, held yesterday, marked the official induction of the seasoned bureaucrats into their roles within the esteemed Election Commission of India (ECI).

Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, distinguished members of the 1988 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), assumed their responsibilities as Election Commissioners on March 15.

Their appointment was formalized through a notification published in the Gazette on March 14, heralding a new chapter in India’s electoral governance.

Hailing from the Kerala and Uttarakhand cadres respectively, Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise garnered over decades of service to the nation. Their diverse backgrounds and extensive administrative acumen are poised to invigorate and fortify the electoral processes of the nation.

President Droupadi Murmu, during the meeting, extended her warm wishes to the newly appointed Election Commissioners and expressed her confidence in their ability to discharge their duties with integrity and diligence. She underscored the critical role of the Election Commission in upholding the democratic fabric of the nation and ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.
