NESTS Showcases Knowledge, Cultural and Educational Initiatives in New Delhi

New Delhi: The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) organized a special event at its headquarters in New Delhi today to highlight its diverse initiatives in knowledge management, capacity building, education, and culture.

On the occasion, Vibhu Nayar, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, released a compilation of GI-tagged tribal paintings, along with specially designed diaries for teachers, students, and class monitors, and compendiums of circulars for Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs).

A major attraction of the event was the creative display by EMRS students, who brought to life the GI-tagged tribal art forms through vibrant and expressive performances. To commemorate this initiative, NESTS released a painting album titled “Canvas of Tribal Culture.” An exhibition of these paintings is scheduled to be held in November 2025.

NESTS has introduced the new diaries to strengthen academic engagement and streamline monitoring in schools. The Teacher Diary aims to promote reflective teaching and effective lesson planning, while the Student Diary encourages daily tracking of academic and co-curricular activities to nurture self-discipline. The Class Monitor Diary has been designed to instil leadership, accountability, and teamwork among students.

To further enhance institutional efficiency, NESTS has consolidated its circulars related to school management, administration, academics, and construction into two compendiums—one dedicated to construction-related directives and another encompassing other administrative instructions.

The event also recognized exemplary contributions from EMRS principals. Asad Ahmad, Principal of EMRS Chhuri Kala, Chhattisgarh, was felicitated with the National Recognition Certificate for 2024–25 as the Best EMRS Teacher. Praveen Kumar Mishra, Principal of EMRS Butyagudam, Andhra Pradesh, was honored for his school’s achievement as the cleanest residential school under the Swachh Andhra–Swarn Andhra initiative.

A detailed presentation by the NESTS Commissioner outlined the organization’s major initiatives, including the introduction of skill-based subjects, the Tribal Corner initiative, student participation in the Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani and the INSPIRE–MANAK Scheme, and updates from the Finance and Civil Departments on infrastructure and fund utilization.

Addressing NESTS officers, Vibhu Nayar expressed satisfaction over the organization’s innovative and culturally responsive initiatives. He emphasized that such efforts foster holistic education, nurture creativity, and instil pride in tribal heritage among students. Appreciating the collaborative efforts of NESTS officials, EMRS principals, and teachers, he lauded their continuous commitment to strengthening the educational foundation of tribal youth across the country.
