Nestle Admits 70 Percent of Its Products Unhealthy

An internal document of Nestle company has admitted that more than 70 percent of its food and drinks portfolio failed to meet the recognised definition of health and nutrition.

According to an article published in Financial Times on Monday, the world’s biggest food company has also admitted that some of its food will “never be healthy” no matter “how much we renovate”.

A presentation circulated among top executives in early 2021 which stated that out of the company’s overall food and drinks portfolio, 70% of products failed to make the cut, along with 90% of beverages excluding pure coffee.

Quoting from the presentation, FT wrote, “We have made significant improvements to our products . . .[but] our portfolio still underperforms against external definitions of health in a landscape where regulatory pressure and consumer demands are skyrocketing.”

After the FT report, the company released a statement which stated that it was working on a company-wide project to update its nutrition and health strategy.
