NCTE Hosts Year-End Seminar for National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) Review and Best Practices Sharing

New Delhi: In a two-day Year-End Seminar, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) convened key stakeholders to share best practices and conduct a periodic review and continuous evaluation of the National Mission for Mentoring (NMM). The seminar, held on January 30-31, 2024, was attended by Prof. Yogesh Singh, Chairperson of NCTE, as the Chief Guest.

The event aimed to bring together National Mentors, Mentees, Principals, Nodal Officers, academic dignitaries, and educational administrators to discuss and review the progress of NMM. Prof. Yogesh Singh addressed the dignitaries and stakeholders present and launched the NMM webpage, a crucial step towards enhancing the mentorship ecosystem in India.

NMM, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, was initiated to establish a large pool of outstanding professionals willing to provide professional and personal support to school teachers across the country. The mission aims to ensure continuous professional development for teachers, recognizing the pivotal role of mentoring in their growth and the positive impact it has on student learning outcomes.

The seminar facilitated a collaborative environment for sharing best practices, experiences, and provided a platform for mentors and mentees to voice challenges and suggest improvements. The progress report highlighted that the 60 mentors conducted mentoring sessions on various topics, including instructional leadership skills, digital education, socio-emotional learning, inclusive education, professionalism and ethics, classroom management, building 21st-century skills, and more.

Renowned educators and experts in mentoring shared insights and experiences, setting the stage for technical sessions where mentors presented their best practices and success stories. These sessions served as a source of inspiration and learning for participants, fostering open discussions about challenges and potential solutions.

On the second day, NCTE facilitated a periodic review and continuous evaluation of NMM, allowing mentors and mentees to provide feedback and suggestions for improvement. The seminar concluded with valuable recommendations and insights that will contribute to strengthening and upgrading NMM before its national rollout.

The Year-End Seminar was a productive and engaging event, providing a platform for reflection, learning, and collaboration among academic dignitaries and stakeholders. NCTE aims to leverage the feedback and recommendations gathered during the seminar to enhance the effectiveness of NMM in shaping the future of education in India.
