NCC’s Varshik Niti Samvad Shivir 2024 Focuses on Expansion and Youth Development

New Delhi: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) held its two-day ‘Varshik Niti Samvad Shivir’ on June 4-5, 2024, in New Delhi. The conference aimed to review the progress of NCC’s ongoing expansion plan in line with Government directives to meet the aspirations of the youth. The event was inaugurated by DG NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh and attended by Additional Directors General and Deputy Directors General from NCC Directorates across the country.

Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh highlighted the substantial efforts made over the past year to enhance training, infrastructure, and logistics functions within the NCC. He emphasized the importance of institutionalized training as the core mission of all Directorates, aiming to contribute meaningfully to nation-building, social awareness, and community development programs. He reiterated the NCC’s unwavering commitment to motivating young Indians and transforming them into responsible citizens, aligning with Government policies towards making India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

The conference was held at the newly-renovated Pratap Conference Hall, DG NCC Camp, Cariappa Parade Ground in New Delhi. The hall is named after Cadet Sergeant Pratap Singh of the 10th Punjab Battalion NCC, Gurdaspur, who was awarded the Ashok Chakra Class III for his gallantry and selfless devotion to duty during firefighting operations at Gurdaspur Railway Station on September 13, 1965, during the war.

Key Highlights of the Conference:

  1. Review of Expansion Plan: Discussions focused on the progress of the ongoing expansion plan to meet the aspirations of the youth, as per Government directives.
  2. Enhanced Training and Infrastructure: Emphasis was placed on enhancing training programs and improving infrastructure and logistics to better serve the cadets and support their development.
  3. Institutionalized Training: Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh stressed the need for institutionalized training to be the raison d’être of all Directorates, ensuring meaningful contributions to nation-building and community development.
  4. Commitment to Youth Development: The conference underscored the NCC’s dedication to transforming young Indians into responsible citizens, in line with the Government’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
  5. Tribute to Cadet Sergeant Pratap Singh: The newly-renovated Pratap Conference Hall, named in honor of Cadet Sergeant Pratap Singh, serves as a reminder of the bravery and dedication exemplified by the youth in the service of the nation.
