Nationwide Enthusiasm Marks Success of Project ‘Veer Gatha 3.0’

New Delhi:  In a resounding celebration of patriotism and literary prowess, the third edition of Project ‘Veer Gatha’ has left an indelible mark on the landscape of Republic Day festivities. Launched on July 13, 2023, as a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, the initiative garnered an overwhelming response from approximately 1.37 crore students representing around 2.43 lakh schools across India.

Project Veer Gatha 3.0 embraced a diverse array of thought-provoking topics for essay and paragraph writing, encouraging students to delve into themes that resonated with the spirit of valor and sacrifice. Students had the option to explore the life stories of their chosen role models, with a particular focus on Gallantry Award winners. The suggested topics spanned a range of historical narratives, including the 1857 First War of Independence, the role of Tribal Uprising in the Freedom Struggle, and the inspiring tales of freedom fighters like Rani Laxmibai.

The project’s execution involved schools conducting activities at their level, fostering nationwide interaction programs with Gallantry awardees both offline and online. The culmination of the initiative saw the submission of top entries to the MyGov portal. The school-level activities concluded on September 30, 2023.

Following rigorous evaluations at the State and District levels, nearly 3,900 entries were submitted for national-level evaluation. A committee appointed by the Ministry of Education meticulously selected the top 100 entries, approved by the State Nodal Officers of all States/Union Territories (UT). The winners, each to be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, will be felicitated jointly by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education in New Delhi. As special guests, they will also have the distinct honor of witnessing the Republic Day Parade 2024 at Kartavya Path. The success of Project ‘Veer Gatha 3.0’ underscores the enduring spirit of patriotism and literary excellence among the youth of the nation.
