Nation Mourns the Loss of Ghazal Maestro Pankaj Udhas: PM Modi and Leaders Extend Condolences

New Delhi: The nation bids farewell to the legendary ghazal maestro, Pankaj Udhas, whose demise has left an indelible void in the world of Indian music. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief, hailing Udhas as the “beacon of Indian music” and acknowledging the irreplaceable gap he leaves behind.

In a heartfelt tribute, PM Modi shared cherished moments captured with Pankaj Udhas, reminiscing about the soul-stirring emotions conveyed through his singing. The Prime Minister recognized Udhas’ role as a guiding force in Indian music, transcending generations with his timeless melodies.

“I recall my various interactions with him over the years. His departure leaves a void in the music world that can never be filled. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” conveyed PM Modi through a somber message.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, among others, also expressed their condolences.

Amit Shah noted how Udhas’ ghazals and songs touched hearts across ages and classes, leaving an enduring legacy. Rajnath Singh praised Udhas’ contribution to the ghazal genre, highlighting the soothing effect of his velvety voice. Yogi Adityanath offered prayers for the departed soul, acknowledging the irreplaceable loss to the music world.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also joined the nation in grieving the loss of the renowned ghazal singer. CM Patnaik expressed deep sadness, noting that Pankaj Udhas’ soothing voice and emotive renditions touched the hearts of millions. The Chief Minister emphasized that the legendary singer’s legacy would continue to resonate with fans and music enthusiasts for time to come.

Pankaj Udhas, at the age of 72, passed away in Mumbai on Monday after a prolonged battle with cancer. The maestro’s contribution to the world of music remains etched in the hearts of millions, and the nation mourns the loss of an icon. May his soul rest in peace.
