Morning Classes Announced for Schools from April 2 in Odisha Due to Heat Wave

Bhubaneswar: In response to the prevailing heat wave conditions, the State government of Odisha has taken proactive measures by announcing morning classes for all students from Class I to XII, effective from April 2.

The School and Mass Education department issued an advisory on Saturday, outlining the schedule for morning classes, which will commence from 7:00 am and conclude at 11:30 am. This decision aims to ensure the well-being and safety of students amidst the rising temperatures.

In addition to the adjusted class timings, schools have been instructed to provide adequate drinking water facilities for students to stay hydrated during the school hours.

The decision comes as several parts of the state experienced scorching temperatures, with the mercury soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in many areas. Malkangiri recorded the highest temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Boudh and Titlagarh at 40.5 degrees Celsius each. Bolangir and Nayagarh also witnessed temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, signaling the onset of intense heat wave conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has further forecasted that heat waves are likely to persist in the coming days, underscoring the importance of proactive measures to mitigate the impact of extreme temperatures.

In light of the forecast, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued directives to all Collectors to take necessary precautionary measures to address the challenges posed by the heat wave conditions and ensure the safety of the citizens.
