Mizoram Chief Minister Meets Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh to Discuss State Issues

New Delhi:  The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Mr. Lalduhawma, currently on an official visit to the national capital, held a crucial meeting with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Space, and Atomic Energy, Dr. Jitendra Singh. The discussions, held in New Delhi today, covered a spectrum of state-related issues, with a particular focus on the placement of civil servants and officers in Mizoram.

During the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh conveyed that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi places the highest priority on the development of the North Eastern Region, emphasizing equitable progress across all eight states. Singh highlighted the Prime Minister’s extensive engagement with the region, having visited the North East over 65 times, showcasing a commitment to the area’s comprehensive development.

Singh also recalled the establishment of a specialized “Citrus Fruit Park,” one of the first Centres of Excellence in the subcontinent, in collaboration with Israel. This initiative, he noted, is set to significantly boost horticulture, revenue, and employment in Mizoram, reflecting the Modi government’s dedication to promoting growth in smaller states.

Addressing the concerns raised by Chief Minister Lalduhawma, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is also in charge of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), suggested that the Chief Minister send an official communication outlining the requirements for the placement of civil servants and officers in Mizoram. He assured Mr. Lalduhawma that the central government would do everything possible and appropriate to address the state’s needs.

In response, Chief Minister Lalduhawma expressed gratitude for the support and interest shown by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during their previous meeting. He conveyed that the Prime Minister not only provided encouragement but also urged him to keep the central government updated on the developments in Mizoram regularly.

The meeting between the Chief Minister of Mizoram and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh signifies the ongoing efforts to foster cooperation between the central government and the states, particularly in addressing regional concerns and promoting inclusive development.
