Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Visit to Odisha: Focus on Railways, Postage Stamps, and Cultural Heritage

 

New Delhi:  Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, is set to embark on a visit to Odisha on February 20, 2024. The visit encompasses a series of significant events, including the release of Commemorative Postage Stamps on legendary poets of Odisha and the Cultural Heritage of Western Odisha.

As part of his itinerary, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw will participate in scheduled programs organized by the Railways and Postal Departments. The Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, will join the function at Biju Patnaik Auditorium, Sambalpur University, Burla.

A noteworthy event during the visit will be the release of Commemorative Postage Stamps. Shri Vaishnaw and Shri Pradhan will unveil these stamps, celebrating the legendary poets of Odisha and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Western Odisha. The release ceremony, conducted via video conferencing from Bhubaneswar, is scheduled for 2:30 PM.

The Commemorative Postage Stamps will not only be a visual tribute to the literary and cultural luminaries of Odisha but will also serve as a token of remembrance for posterity. Additionally, 42 Branch Post Offices across Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh Divisions will witness the release of these stamps, amplifying their reach and impact.

Following the stamp release, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw will shift his focus to the performance review of the East Coast Railway (ECoR). The discussion will encompass various aspects, including ongoing projects, traffic facility works, and infrastructure-related matters. The review session is slated for 3:30 PM.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to the development of rail infrastructure and the preservation of cultural heritage. Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw’s engagement in both the Railways and Postal Departments reflects a holistic approach to address multifaceted aspects of connectivity and cultural identity.

After concluding the official engagements, Shri Vaishnaw will participate in local programs at Bhubaneswar before departing for Delhi in the evening. The visit is anticipated to contribute to the ongoing efforts to enhance rail connectivity, promote cultural heritage, and strengthen the bond between the central government and the state of Odisha.
