Bhubaneswar: To ensure accountability and transparency in the food supply chain, Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Krushna Chandra Patra, conducted surprise inspections at several godowns and rice mills in Boudh and Sonepur districts.
During his unannounced visit to Ranisati Mill and Central PEG Godown in Boudh, Patra uncovered serious irregularities, including the recycling of low-quality, pest-infested rice and fraudulent weighing practices. Expressing strong displeasure over these malpractices, the minister directed officials to take immediate corrective measures to ensure that only high-quality rice is supplied to consumers.
Patra’s visit continued to Lalita Rice Mill and Sheetal Rice Mill in Shialijuri, Sonepur, where he investigated allegations of irregularities in rice processing and supply. His inspection revealed multiple issues, prompting further scrutiny and action against those responsible for substandard practices.
