Mild COVID-19 Resurgence in Odisha: Seven New Cases Reported, Situation Under Control

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has witnessed a mild resurgence of COVID-19, with seven new cases detected over the last two days—five on Friday and two on Saturday. The Health and Family Welfare Department has confirmed that the situation remains well within control.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health Department, Aswathy S., reassured the public that there is no reason for panic. “Most of the earlier patients have already recovered, and the number of active cases is currently very low and being effectively managed,” she said while addressing the media.

The state government has ramped up surveillance in coordination with the Union Health Ministry. Officials have implemented precautionary measures and affirmed that the health infrastructure is fully prepared to handle any developments. “We are strictly adhering to the ministry’s guidelines and have taken all necessary steps to remain prepared,” Aswathy added.

Highlighting the nature of the current infections, she noted that the virus strain in circulation is relatively mild. “As per inputs from ICMR and the Union Health Ministry, the prevailing variant is of low virulence. People should remain cautious but not worried,” she clarified.
