
Paris, July 27, 2024: Shooter Manu Bhaker clinched India’s first medal of the Paris Olympics 2024, striking bronze in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol final at the Chatearoux Shooting Center. By doing so, Bhaker scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympic Games.
Bhaker’s exceptional performance in the final round saw her competing against some of the world’s best shooters. Her precision and composure under pressure earned her a spot on the podium, bringing pride to her nation.
“Winning an Olympic medal has always been my dream, and to achieve this historic feat is beyond words. I hope this inspires many young girls in India to pursue shooting and sports in general,” said an elated Bhaker after her win.
In other exciting news for Indian shooting, Arjun Babuta and Ramita Jindal have also raised India’s medal hopes by qualifying for the Men’s and Women’s 10m Air Rifle finals, respectively. Their strong performances in the qualifying rounds have set high expectations for potential medal finishes.
