Lord’s to Host the 2025 World Test Championship Final in June

Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) will be held between June 11 and June 15, 2025, at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. This much-anticipated event will mark the third edition of the WTC final to take place in England.

The inaugural WTC final was held in Southampton in 2021, where New Zealand triumphed over India. The second final, held at The Oval in 2023, saw Australia claim victory over India. The upcoming final at Lord’s will be the first time the “Home of Cricket” hosts the WTC showdown.

As of the latest standings, India sits at the top of the WTC leaderboard, with Australia closely behind. The top two teams at the end of the ongoing two-year cycle of Test cricket will earn the right to compete for the coveted title in London.

Australian captain Pat Cummins, whose team is the defending champion, expressed his excitement about the possibility of competing in the final once again.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive and Secretary of the Marleybone Cricket Club (MCC), also shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming event. “Test match days at Lord’s are special, and to welcome the two best men’s sides in the world at the time, to battle it out at the Home of Cricket, will be a cricketing experience not to be missed,” Lavender said.

Cricket fans around the world are eagerly anticipating what promises to be a thrilling finale to the World Test Championship, with the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground set to add another chapter to its storied history.
