Lakshya Sen Stuns World No. 3 Anders Antonsen at All England Badminton Championships

Birmingham: Indian badminton prodigy Lakshya Sen scripted a remarkable victory at the All England Badminton Championships, defeating World No. 3 Anders Antonsen of Denmark in a thrilling encounter to advance to the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament.

In a pulsating match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Sen displayed exceptional skill and determination to secure a memorable three-game triumph over the formidable Danish opponent. Despite trailing early in the match and facing a deficit in the deciding game, Sen showcased remarkable resilience to clinch victory with a scoreline of 24-22, 11-21, 21-14.

Sen’s victory over Antonsen, a three-time medalist at the World Championships, marks a significant milestone in his burgeoning career and underscores his potential as a force to be reckoned with on the international badminton circuit.

However, it was a day of mixed fortunes for India at the tournament, as ace shuttler PV Sindhu faced disappointment in the women’s singles category. Sindhu bowed out of the competition after a hard-fought loss to reigning world champion An Se Young of Korea in the round of 16. The defeat marked Sindhu’s seventh consecutive loss to An Se Young in as many encounters, highlighting the Korean’s dominance in their head-to-head matchups.

As Lakshya Sen’s impressive run at the All England Badminton Championships continues, Indian badminton enthusiasts eagerly await his quarterfinal clash, hopeful for more stellar performances from the young sensation.
