Labour Ministry and Rapido Join Hands to Create 50 Lakh Jobs via National Career Service Portal

New Delhi: In a major initiative to strengthen employment linkages in the gig and logistics sector, the Ministry of Labour & Employment today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rapido, India’s leading ride-sharing platform, at an event held in New Delhi. The partnership aims to generate 50 lakh livelihood opportunities over the next 1–2 years through the National Career Service (NCS) portal.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje. Also present were senior ministry officials and Rapido representatives, including Co-Founder Mr. Pavan Guntupalli.

Highlighting the significance of the agreement, Dr. Mandaviya said, “The NCS portal is transforming the employment landscape by bridging the gap between job seekers and employers. With over 1.75 crore active job seekers and more than 40 lakh registered employers, it is emerging as a powerful tool for workforce mobilization across India.” He emphasized the platform’s growing capabilities through integrations with eShram, My Bharat, SIDH, and MEA’s eMigrate portal.

Dr. Mandaviya praised Rapido for its proactive approach in creating job opportunities, especially its commitment to generating 5 lakh jobs for women under its “Pink Rapido” initiative. “This partnership embodies the government’s vision to create a more inclusive, accessible, and hyperlocal job ecosystem,” he added.

Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje lauded the focus on women’s employment and expressed optimism about the transformative potential of the collaboration. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that opportunities reach even the most underrepresented segments of the workforce,” she said.

Secretary of Labour & Employment reiterated that the MoU reflects the ministry’s evolving, innovative, and inclusive approach to employment facilitation. She highlighted how the changing employment landscape demands more agile and tech-driven strategies to connect job seekers with meaningful work.

Rapido Co-Founder Pavan Guntupalli expressed gratitude for the partnership and affirmed the company’s mission to support structured onboarding, digital empowerment, and awareness of worker welfare. “We are proud to align with the NCS platform to offer verified opportunities and scale inclusive hiring through tech-driven solutions,” he said.

Key Features of the MoU:

  • Rapido will post verified job listings for roles like bike taxi, auto, and cab drivers on the NCS portal.
  • The collaboration will include API-based integration for real-time job listings and seamless tracking.
  • Special emphasis will be placed on hiring women, youth, and individuals seeking flexible employment.
  • The initiative also promotes digital onboarding and awareness of social security schemes for gig workers.
