KVIC Empowers Artisans in Delhi with Toolkits

New Delhi: In a significant stride towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Developed and Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) facilitated the distribution of high-quality toolkits to artisans in the Delhi region. The event, held at Tri Nagar, North West Delhi, under the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana, aimed to equip artisans with the necessary tools and equipment to enhance their livelihood opportunities.

At the distribution ceremony, Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KVIC, along with Nagendra Raghuvanshi, KVIC Member (North Zone), oversaw the distribution of essential equipment to artisans. Among the provisions were 100 Bee Boxes provided to 10 beneficiaries, electric potter’s wheels distributed to 40 artisans, and Agarbatti machines allocated to 20 beneficiaries.

Highlighting the success of KVIC schemes and initiatives in the Delhi region, Kumar emphasized their significant contributions to economic growth and sustainable development. Over the years, KVIC has allocated funds through various schemes, including the Market Modernization Development Assistance (MMDA) and Integrated Scheme of Education and Skill Development (ISEC). In the current fiscal year, KVIC has established 47 units under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), disbursing 322.2 lakhs as margin money.

He highlighted the remarkable surge in Khadi sales over the past decade, attributing it to the unwavering support of the Modi government and the global appeal of Khadi and village industry products.

Kumar emphasized the significant rise in Khadi sales and artisan remuneration. Underlining the policies of the Modi government as instrumental in making Khadi products globally competitive, he stressed the sector’s role in fostering self-reliance and prosperity.

The distribution event witnessed the active participation of representatives from Khadi institutions, associations, artisans, banks, and government officials, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards empowering artisans and promoting indigenous industries.

The provision of top-notch toolkits to artisans underscores KVIC’s commitment to advancing the socio-economic well-being of artisans and fostering a self-reliant India. Through such initiatives, KVIC continues to pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for artisans across the nation.
