Kolkata Knight Riders Thrash Delhi Capitals by 106 Runs in IPL Encounter
Visakhapatnam: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bulldozed Delhi Capitals (DC) by a staggering 106 runs in a high-octane clash of IPL 2024 at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. The match witnessed an onslaught of boundaries and sixes, with KKR posting a mammoth total of 272/7, the second-highest score in IPL history.
The fireworks began early in the innings as KKR’s Sunil Narine launched a brutal assault on the DC bowling attack. Narine’s blitzkrieg saw him racing to a scintillating half-century off just 21 balls, laying the foundation for KKR’s commanding total. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, KKR’s middle-order, led by Andre Russell (41), Rinku Singh (26), and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54), kept the momentum going with some breathtaking strokeplay.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for KKR as Delhi Capitals fought back with Rishabh Pant (55) and Tristan Stubbs (54) showcasing their batting prowess. Pant, in particular, played a captain’s knock, but it wasn’t enough to rescue DC from the jaws of defeat. KKR’s Mitchell Starc ended his wicketless streak in IPL 2024 by picking up crucial wickets of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, while Impact Sub Vaibhav Arora shone with his career-best figures of 3 for 27.
Despite the valiant efforts of Pant and Stubbs, DC succumbed to the relentless pressure exerted by KKR’s bowlers and fell short by a massive margin, ending their innings at 166. With this resounding victory, KKR has now won all three of their opening matches in the IPL 2024.
