Buckingham Palace, London: Buckingham Palace made an announcement on Monday, revealing that King Charles of Britain, aged 75, has been diagnosed with cancer and has initiated treatment for the same. Consequently, the monarch will be deferring his public duties, as stated by the palace. While the palace did not disclose specific details regarding the type of cancer, it clarified that it is unrelated to the prostate.
The official statement from Buckingham Palace elaborated on the situation, stating, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the palace asserted. It further reassured that “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.” The news has cast a pall over the British royal household, and well-wishes are pouring in for King Charles’s speedy recovery.
