New Delhi: In anticipation of Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary and as part of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ National Sports Day 2024 celebrations, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized its inaugural “Khel Utsav 2024” from August 27 to August 30 at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
In its first edition, the event featured tournaments in four sports—Cricket, Hockey, Badminton, and Table Tennis. Over 200 officials and staff from the Ministry participated with enthusiasm, making the event a grand success. The Ministry plans to expand the scope of Khel Utsav by including more sports in future editions.
The culmination of the event saw a ceremony for the distribution of the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand trophies on September 4, 2024, held at the PIB Conference Hall, Shastri Bhawan. The award distribution was graced by Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju, along with other senior officials of the Ministry.
