Kataka Gets New Market Complex, Sensorial Park; Atal Park Work Begins

Kataka: Residents of Kataka will have access to new commercial and recreational facilities with the inauguration of the Millennium City Market Complex and Sensorial Park at Sector-9, while work on another public green space, Atal Park, was formally launched at Sector-13.

Housing & Urban Development Minister and Kataka Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra inaugurated the two facilities and laid the foundation stone for Atal Park, as part of efforts to expand urban amenities and create more accessible public spaces in the city.

The Millennium City Market Complex has been developed to provide residents and businesses with a more organised commercial space and improved infrastructure. The facility is expected to strengthen local commercial activity while contributing to better planned urban development.

The newly opened Sensorial Park offers a different kind of public experience, combining science, education and recreation in an open setting. Designed as a science-based interactive park, it uses hands-on experiences and scientific concepts to make learning more engaging, particularly for children and young visitors.

At Sector-13, the foundation stone was laid for Atal Park, which is planned as a modern green and community space. The upcoming facility is expected to add to the city’s recreational infrastructure and provide residents with another space for leisure and community activities.

Speaking at the event, Mahapatra said the government has accorded priority to the development of Kataka while seeking to retain the character of a city known for its history and heritage.

“Kataka is a city of history and heritage, and several developmental projects will be undertaken in the city soon. Our focus is to ensure planned urban development while improving civic amenities and creating better public spaces for citizens,” he said.

He said modern infrastructure, organised commercial facilities and recreational spaces would help improve the quality of life of residents while complementing Kataka’s historical and cultural identity.

Mayor Subash Chandra Singh, Choudwar-Kataka MLA Souvic Biswal, KDA Vice-Chairperson Kirandeep Kaur Sahota and senior KDA officials were present on the occasion.

The three initiatives are part of the broader effort to strengthen urban infrastructure in Kataka and create public facilities that combine commercial activity, recreation, education and community use.
