Journalist, Activist In Manipur Booked Under NSA for Cow Urine Post After BJP Leader Dies of Covid

An Imphal based journalist and an activist were arrested in Manipur over their social media posts on Cow Urine Cure after state BJP chief S Tikendra Singh died due to Covid 19 infection.

The Manipur police on May 13 arrested Journalist Kishorchandra Wangkhem and political activist Erendro Leichombam and booked them under the National Security Act (NSA).

Both of them posted on those who advocate that cow dung and urine could cure Covid-19 infection. In his post Wangkhem wrote in the local language,“Santhi Sanyung na yadrabo, oh!!! RIP #Rashikang_Kangyet Hayeng nga chaani” which according to the translation by EastMojo means, “Cow dung, cow urine didn’t work. Groundless argument. Tomorrow, I will eat fish.”

While expressing his condolences on the demise of the BJP leader, Leichombam in his post stated that cow dung and urine are not a cure of coronavirus. “The cure is science and common sense,” he wrote.

Both of them were arrested after the state BJP unit filed a complaint alleging that they insulted the BJP leader.

On Monday, Imphal court ordered Wangkhem be “detained under section 3(2) of NSA, 1980” and he  be “prevented from commission of such prejudicial activities.”
