Jitendra Biswal Raises the Issue of Making Shree Mandir Wheelchair Accessible

Puri: The foundation stone of the much awaited Jagannath temple heritage corridor project was laid on Wednesday. The project is an effort to transform Puri into a world-class heritage city.

However, the quadriplegic actor from Odisha Jitendra Biswal who has been raising the issue of making temple premises wheelchair accessible for a long time has again raised the issue.

Speaking of accessible temple, Biswal said, “The disabled community has been demanding to make the Puri Shree Mandir wheelchair accessible so that wheelchair-bound devotees of Prabhu Jagannath can also go and have the darshan whenever they wish to without any trouble like other able-bodied people.”

He had approached Puri DM a few months back with the issue but nothing has been done so far.

“Now that the massive Shri Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project is being taken up and CM Naveen Patnaik went to Puri to lay the foundation, can we expect that they would do needful to resolve the issue?” he inquired.
